The next SET-plan conference will take place on 15-16 November 2010 in Brussels, Belgium. The conference will report on the progress of all action lines of the European Commission’s SET-Plan, officially launch the European Industrial Initiatives for bio-energy and nuclear energy and kick-off the international dimension of the SET-Plan. http://www.setplanconference2010.be/
The conference will be opened by top political decision makers from both the European Union's (EU) institutions and the Spanish Presidency and also from CEOs of worldwide leading companies who will highlight the importance of the SET-Plan for the achievement of the EU ambitious energy and climate goals, and the need to strongly coordinate the public and private sector resources.
The main focus of the conference will be the launching of those EIIs that have demonstrated the maturity of their implementation plans and industry commitment as well as their added value at European level. This will be decided in March 2010 by the European Commission and the SET-Plan Member States’ high level Steering Group. Therefore, the major share of the programme will be devoted to the presentation in plenary sessions of the main aspects of these EIIs, including Implementation Plans, budgets and management and governance structures. There will also be parallel sessions devoted to those EIIs to be launched in the 2nd half of 2010.
The programme will be complemented with several plenary sessions and panel discussions devoted to other important topics such as financing mechanisms, the Joint Programmes of the EERA (European Energy Research Alliance), international cooperation and representative, large publicly-funded projects.
This conference is organized and sponsored by Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) in collaboration with the Ministry of “Industry, Tourism and Trade” and the European Commission. Participants will represent the main European stakeholders in the field including research community, academia, industry, end users, financial entities and public policy makers, as well as representatives from the European institutions and our international partners.
